Q1. Where is Fire Administration located ?

A. Fire Administration offices are located at the Hoover Public Safety Center -2020 Valleydale Road, Hoover, 35244

Q2. A firefighting organization has contacted me by phone to make a contribution
(or purchase a product).Does any of this money go to the Hoover Fire Department?

A. Absolutely not ! While several organizations do legally solicit funds by telemarketing, we do not endorse or recommend participating in any fundraiser which solicits by phone. Our local charity event is our annual golf tournament which raises money for the Children’s Hospital Camp Conquest . Camp Conquest provides children who have experienced a burn injury an opportunity to attend a week long summer camp.

Q3. What is the fire insurance (ISO) rating of the City of Hoover?

A. A  fire rating is determined by the Insurance Services Organization which evaluates the  current capabilities of a fire suppression agency. The rating based on a scale of 1-10 ( 1 being the best) is assigned to all fire agencies in the State of  Alabama and is commonly used by insurance companies to determine your fire insurance rates. The lower the rating, the lower a homeowner’s  insurance rate will be. Currently, the City of Hoover has an insurance rating of 2 . Out of 47,000 fire departments that the ISO rates nationwide, less than 1% have achieved this rating.

A. On the home page click on “Employment” for the recruitment and qualifications information. Job announcements and applications can be found on the City of Hoover’s web site at www.hooveral.org . In the left hand column, locate the JOB OPPORTUNITIES link and follow it to the Human Resources on line application process.

A. The City of Hoover operates under the 2009 version of the International Fire Code.

Q7. What is the protection area for the fire department?

A. The Hoover Fire Department protects a population of approximately 82,000 people in an area comprised of 44 square miles.

Q8. Where can I dispose of paint, oil, batteries ?

A. For the last several years, the City of Hoover has hosted a Household Hazardous Waste Day each April. During this event, Hoover residents are allowed to bring items for disposable that normally are not accepted in their regular trash items such as paint, oil, batteries. Date of this event will be posted on the City of Hoover web site at www.hooveral.org.
